Spencer Residents Go Caribbean!

February 20th, 2015

Even in the midst of cold late-November, the tenants, staff members, and a few guests thoroughly enjoyed an entertaining Caribbean-themed afternoon at Senior Living at Prouty.   They feasted on a generous lunch of various Subway sandwiches, fresh veggies, “seashell” macaroni salad, refreshing beverages, and a wide selection of delicious desserts.

“The Beautiful Future,” a band sponsored by the Tenant Assistance Program, performed blissful music that was inspired by the Trinidadian, Jamaican, and Puerto Rican cultures.  Their tunes really set the mood and led an enthusiastic audience to dance through the room in a conga line.  Other activities, such as a Limbo contest, yo-yoing, and rope-jumping were also highlights of the afternoon.

A “tropical outfit” costume contest was held as well and prizes included beautiful plants, palm tree pictures, etc.  Who knew that a little imagination could turn a cold day into a tropical one?!   We could almost hear the seagulls and surf – and feel the warm sand!Caribbean Party TAP show Nov 18 2014 001 Caribbean Party TAP show Nov 18 2014 018
