Affordable Elderly Housing

Senior Living on Bellingham Hill offers supportive housing for low-income elders 62 years and over. Funded by the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD),this project provides an array of services that enable tenants to age in place and enjoy the highest possible quality of life.

Senior Living is comprised of 60 units: sixteen (16) one-bedroom and forty-four (44) studio apartments.

- Each unit has a kitchen area, a private bathroom, a living-dining area, and a 24-hour emergency call system.
– All units are designed to meet the needs of tenants as their functional abilities change.
– All apartments and common areas are designed to be fully accessible and to accommodate physical limitations.

Extensive common areas are located throughout the building:

- Lounges and function rooms of various sizes
– Kitchen and dining areas
– Bathrooms near common areas
– Laundry facilities on each floor

A well-stocked, on-site convenience store allows tenants to purchase necessities without leaving the building. Outdoor sitting areas with green space provide an opportunity for tenants to gather informally and to enjoy the outdoors in the privacy of their own home. Each unit offers scenic views of Chelsea and the surrounding metropolitan area.

A diverse array of supportive services is available to all tenants. Our staff is happy to work with individuals to select those that are most appropriate for them.

– Homemaking services
– Congregate and delivered meals
– Nursing services

In early March 2010, The former David Prouty Intermediate School in Spencer, MA, became Senior Living at Prouty. Both state and federal funding was secured and with the help of many, residents began moving in March 1. The historic 1888 former school was turned into 35 units of affordable housing for very low income seniors accompanied by resident manager apartment.
