“Senior Living at Prouty” Addresses Spencer’s Aging Population

Allston, MA – Construction continues on the former David Prouty Intermediate School in Spencer, Massachusetts. Set to open in late fall of this year, the 36-unit “Senior Living at Prouty” will help address the town of Spencer’s need for senior living.

MHPI, Inc. President Sheldon Bycoff is excited about the new project and the opportunity it will bring to the area. “We at MHPI recognize the critical need to bring these types of senior living housing projects to central Massachusetts. There is a growing population of elderly out there that need some sort of long-term, affordable, subsidized supportive housing, and that is exactly what we are offering”.

The project, which broke ground in August, has been moving at a steady pace. It is currently 40% finished and is on schedule for a late fall opening this year. As a more definitive occupancy date becomes clear, MHPI will make public the beginning of the rental process in the local newspapers. This is expected to happen in the late summer.

“It is clear that there are many people in need of housing, especially now, when people’s savings have been eroded, and MHPI is working hard to open in Spencer. We are also continuing to look all around the area to open more senior living facilities like this” commented Bycoff.

MHPI, Inc. is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation specializing in long-term care for the elderly and persons with disabilities. For over 30 years, MHPI has been developing and providing housing for special populations. With several locations in the Greater Boston and central Massachusetts area, MHPI strives to provide a center of well being for its residents and the community at large by continuously “Creating Housing…Supporting Lives”
